high schools in the
Prince George’s County
Public School System
on a tour of Howard
University and
University of Maryland
College Park. The objective of
the field trip is to
give students an
interactive opportunity
to learn how to prepare
for the college
admissions process.Presentations
will include navigating
through the application
and financial aid
process, preparing for
on-site interviews and
topical discussions
ranging from collegiate
academics, socialization
and healthy living
habits.Students
will have the
opportunity to get
assistance from
university staff and
members of the Prince
George’s County Public
School System on
creating a college
planning portfolio.

READ ACROSS CHARLOTTE
WITH USAMA YOUNG Charlotte, NC- On
March 2, 2012,
participating schools will
celebrate
the birthday of beloved
children's author Dr.
Seuss. In alignment with
the National Education
Association's Read Across
America campaign, an annual reading
motivation and awareness
program to celebrate
reading,
students from local
Charlotte elementary and
middle schools will
participate in Pass, Rush,
Read with Usama Young.
Pass, Rush, Read
is a new initiative of
Charlotte resident and NLF
player, Usama Young of the
Cleveland Browns. Pass,
Rush, Read
challenges students to
read at least 30 minutes a
day. The Usama Young Youth
Foundation presents this
year’s program in
conjunction
with Insightful Player.
NEA's Read Across
America campaign will be
honored through Usama’s
visit and book talk in an
effort to motivate
children to read and to
celebrate their
achievement.
Classroom activities, a
proclamation and discussions have
also been planned.
Students will have the
opportunity to take the
reading challenge, compete
in contests and
games, with participants
receiving Usama’s
Insightful Player pack
that includes a
T-shirt, poster and an
autographed copy of the
Insightful
Player book featuring Mr.
Young.
Usama
Young Goes Back to School This week,
the Usama Young Youth Foundation
kicked off the “Prince George’s
Goes to College Week” at his
alma mater Largo High School in
Upper Marlboro, MD. Usama
continued his “Chalk Talk”
series, by speaking to students
about the importance of setting
goals, hard work and preparing
for their futures. Chalk Talk
appearances were also held at
Kettering Middle School, Central
High School and the NACAC
National College Fair all
located in Prince George’s.

National College Fair will be held

9:30am – 1:00pm, and from 10:00am
– 12:00pm on Saturday, April 16,
2011 at the Prince George's Sports
and Learning Complex in Landover,
MD. Sponsored by the National
Association for College Admission
Counseling (NACAC) and hosted by
the Potomac & Chesapeake
Association for College Admission
Counseling (PCACAC), this event is
free and open to the public.
